Los Angeles-born artist Marla Dawn has lived in the Cleveland area since the age of three.
Marla Dawn received a Bachelor's Degree from Cleveland State University with a personally designed major, "Human Expression" which included a variety of art courses. She completed the two-year foundation coursework at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She also studied at LaCoste School of the Arts in France in the summer of 1995. Marla Dawn received a Master's Degree in Art Education from Case Western Reserve University in 1998. She is a licensed Visual Art Teacher in the State of Ohio.
Since 2003, Marla Dawn worked as an Activity Professional with the senior population, offering art classes and lectures. Most recently, she was the Director of Memory Care at an assisted living residence.
In 2013, Marla Dawn donated 4 pieces of original artwork, which is permanently on display in the library at Stone Gardens Assisted Living Residence located on the Menorah Park Campus in Beachwood, Ohio.
Marla Dawn has worked in a variety of media and she specializes in painting decorative designs on commission. Her personal artwork incorporates plaster gauze sculptures of body parts with acrylic painting.
